Scrap Challenge!

Evening all! 3 blog entries in 3 days! Think it's a record for me!

Hope this finds you all happy, contented, cosy & safe tonight in light of recent UK events...my love & thoughts are with anyone who's been affected by recent happenings which isn't enough but is all I have. xx

Right on with the days creations...Daisys homework task this week was to create a fish, and we were feeling inspired as my classes this week were on paper scraps. I pulled out the bag with all the scraps and the punch and we got to work...pretty impressed with the outcome I have to say!
We drew around a plate for the body, and free drew hearts for the tail and mouth.
And here are some more grown up offerings from the scrap bag...large circle is inside of ds tape, small circles were an SU punch, and the butterfly is the xcut dimension one. Papers are the GCD Paris Nights collection...
This is a little craftrak card done with the paris nights papers teamed up with a Bo Bunny blue spotty paper...
More Bo Bunny spots...
Some shabby chic this time - I free drew this heart and rounded the ends of some paper strips, then "Shabbied up" the whole lot with a purple chalk cats eye pad. Papers this time are the new basic collection from Dovecraft...
A wee shabby house using papers from Dovecraft & Bo Bunny, again distressed with the same ink and teamed with the little xcut folksy heart punches...
Shabby yet again (lol i was on a shabbying roll!)...same Dovecraft papers again. Used the Stampng Up Scalloped circle punch and cut a section out to make these 3d, then cut a smaller circle which I cut into a spiral and glued snail fashion (No idea if that makes sense to anyone elses brain!)...
And that, my dears is your lot for this evening...same time and place tomorrow evening do you think? :-D
Have a great rest of evening and an even better Friday!

Some more cards!

Here's a few more cards for you (2 posts in 2 days, can you believe it lol!)

I used some paper scraps and a buzzcraft stamp for this one. I coloured the image with my trusty pencils...
An easel card this time with papers from an issue of Creative Cardmaking & some American Craft ribbon...
I LOVE this next stamp from the Kars Ollyfant range...I particularly love her wooly socks. Coloued with 3 promarkers - cool grey 1, 3 & 5... The same stamp again in colour this time...forgot to take a note of which pens I used for this one...have learned my lesson & won't make the same mistake again!!!!
I am finally playing with the Trimcraft "Pepper & Friends" range today...have made a few wee sets of notelets and will make some craftraks and other cards too, so watch this space for pics!
Have a fab rest of day everyone, thanks for looking!

Those of you who know me know why the updates have been non existent, but for the others amongst you who don't know me personally things have been kind of tough and life has been full of changes but things are now (touch wood!) getting back on track! My daughter and I have moved and just about settled into a little flat together and I am (slowly) getting used to life single parenting. Health wise things could have been better too but I am definitely on the up now so you should be sick of the sound of me very soon lol!

In the mean time here are some very quick, very basic cards I've done recently for various things...
This lot are from last month's Creative Cardmaking magazine...the masculine papers are fab...all I added was some American Craft ribbon & some Crafty Bitz embellishments...

And these ones are some little Craftrak cards logged onto the Craftrak.com website (check it out , it's great fun!). These wee ones have been left at the swapping station in our shop. They've been done with the Kars "Ollyfant" stamps range, promarkers, and some scraps of patterned paper...

That's all for tonight folks, talk again soon!!!

Thanks for looking!

First Scrap Layouts on Blog!

Well lots of you have asked so here, finally, are 3 scrapbook layouts...I will try and add some more of my older ones soon. These were done for a class at the shop and as you can see "Pumpkin" & "True Love" are based on the same sketch that I did for the class.

This one uses my beloved My Minds Eye papers....again!!! These papers are fab and my stock is diminishing rapidly, must try and get my hands on some more!
This is one for my wee sisters wedding book...have only done about 3 and it's nearly 2 years since the wedding, really need to get my act together. Right at this moment I can't remember the brand of this range of paper which is shocking because I know it and it's on the tip of my tongue but I just can't think of it!!! Will update you on this when I check it tomorrow at work! I do know that the hearts were cut from the "Storybook" cricut cartridge...

This was a wee random extra one I did because I found the 12 x 12 sheet in the "My Minds Eye" range (yes, THAT range again!) and it made me think of winter. The big plain chipboard snowflake is from Craftwork Cards, the word stickers were DCWV and I think the fabric snowflake brads and the silver sparkly ones are both Do Crafts.
Well just a wee quick one tonight...I will find out the name of the romance papers tomorrow and work and promise to update you ASAP!
Take care everyone!

Missing In Action!

Well people it has been far far too long and so much has happened! I guess the headline news which most of you should be aware of by now is that The Paper Mill Shop in Sterling Mills is closing down at the end of February...sad news. It will be really missed. Thank you to all the customers who have wished us well in the future. On a personal note though this gives me the opportunity to spread my wings, and I will be starting at Flawless Designs in Stirling and can't wait! For those of you that aren't aware it is a HUGE independent store with lots and lots of scrummy stash lol! What a treat! A whole new set of products to play with, new customers to meet, and a great way to keep in touch with some of the regulars from the Mills as well!

I am currently writing this blog from the Atrium at Stirling Uni and I can't even begin to tell you how cold it is in here. DD has started a youth theatre group she auditioned for today so I am using the time whilst waiting for her wisely! (I think the cold makes me type faster!)

Here's a few creations for you to keep you going!
The next few are all using the papers free with Creative Cardmaking Mag issue 11....yet again stunning papers (I love these mags - if you haven't managed to get a hold of this issue yet I urge to to grab it while you can!). I put together a kit with some co-ordinating fabric flowers, ribbons (both from The Paper Mill Shop) and some Trimcraft gems...
This first one is a gift card holder...
and the inside...
A valentine's card...

A thank you card...
and another thank you card...(this one seemed to be the favourite in the shop!)Can't wait to play with the rest of these papers!
Here's a couple of quickies I made for the shop...this one was "improved" by my nephew with a red pen (how quickly you forget what it's like to have toddlers in the house lol!). I actually think this would make a cracking wedding invitation - will have to make it in a few colours and add it to the sample books!
And a wee quick remake of a crad from an older blog post but using some of the brighter papers from the My Minds Eye Bloom & Grow range...
Well that's me - time's up! Heading back to pick up Daisy from rehersals now and then home for a heat! As always would love to hear your feedback, and you can, of course, contact me directly at fairy-heaven@hotmail.co.uk
Take care

More My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus Cards

Well thigns have gone crazy busy around here, meetings & parties coming out of my ears as well as a huge order for fairies for one of the local theatres plus enquiries for Stampin Up demos at Christmas Fayres...sleep is most definately going to be optional over the next few weeks! (It's also a great excuse for the housework not being done lol!) Of course on top of all of this the usual seasonal running around after Daisy has begun already with lots of parties and activities planned - and the dreaded parents night tonight. I'm guessing she's maybe too chatty in the class, nothing like her mother of course lol!

So here are some more of the cards I made with the My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus range.

I cut the hearts from Accent Essentials with the Cricut, scalloped the bottom layer with the Stampin Up border punch. The 4u is chipboard stickers and its finished with 3 buttons (how much do I love buttons lol!)
The butterfly was cut on the Walk in my Garden cartridge. The scallop was punched with the Stampin Up punch again. Flowers were an xcut punch, and the whole lot was distressed with the brown Staz On ink pad. And of course lots more buttons!
Label cut on Plantin Schoolbook, brown trim, "daughter" rub on, Xcut flower punch, stampin up scallop circle punch, ribbon thru top of tag and, you guessed it, another button!
This one's really quick and easy...I added some gold pearlised paper and just used the 3 fern rub-ons and the wording reading "together forever".
Rub-on wording on this reads "it's new". Used the scalloped punch along the bottom and cut the hearts from Plantin Schoolbook. I added a few gems to the hearts to finish off (no buttons!!! what an oversight!)
Another super simple one with a fern rub-on and the "darling daughter" wording. Just finished off with a few of the ribbon trims.
That's your lot for today! Hope your all fab and if anyone is passing by with caffeine loaded chocolate be sure to pop in!!
Take care everyone
Ruth

My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus Cards

Here are some of the cards I made with the My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus range. These papers are gorgeous and the pics really don't do them justice. I used the papers, gems, fabric brads, buttons & trims, ribbons, rub ons & alphabet sets.

For this one I also used an xcut flower punch. The flowers on the squares are each finished with a button, and the flowers in the centre finished with gems (except the very centre which is finished with a button with some trim tied through it...

This is made with the Stampin Up scalloped circle punch, a stampin up circle in the centre and finished with a fabric brad. I have used ribbon for the leaves and finished with 3 gems in the top right. The rub on reads "precios girl"...

The flower here is made with ribbon with the Stampin Up circle, and x cut punched flower and a button in the centre. Again the leaves are made with ribbon and the "hi" is using the cardstock stickers. I used the Stampin Up Scallop border punch on the bottom strip of green...

For this one I wrapped the top panel with 2 different ribbons, the rub on read "together forever" and it's finished with some knotted ribbon in the bottom right hand corner...
The topper in the centre for this one is a large scallop circle cut using Accent Essentials on the Cricut. It has been finished again with the Stampin Up scalloped circle & smaller circle. The rub on reads"baby" with a couple of flourishes. It has been finished off with some ribbon across the centre & 3 buttons... Super simple - 9 buttons & some orange trim with a "friend" peel off in the bottom right hand corner...
This is the same scalloped circle on the cricut I used earlier. I've tied the buttons with some of the wool from the tim pack and finished it off with 3 gems. It has all been distressed with my trusty brown Staz-On...

Last but not least for now, the heart was cut with Plantin Schoolbook on the Cricut. The wording reads "adorable" and it has again been finished with button tied with trim & gems...

I will try and upload the other ones I made very soon. I have saved all these pictures in the small format but if you would like these emailed to you so you can see them better drop me a note at fairy-heaven@hotmail.co.uk
Hope you all stay warm and safe tonight, especially if you are watching fireworks. We're are heading to a local display with one of last years x-factor finalists performing. Should be fab.
Till soon everyone, and thank you so much for looking.
